THANKSGIVING Principal Message:

The end of November has arrived. We have begun the second quarter celebrating the numerous fall athletic teams who qualified for the state tournament as well as the record number of students who made Honor Roll. The athletes will participate in Awards Ceremony in Early December while the Honor Roll celebration is slated for late December. Every day we are striving for excellence at EHHS. We have our FOUR CORE areas that keep us focused on student achievement at the highest level:

Our Freshmen Academy is working to ensure every 9th grade student is on-track to earn all of their credits this year as well surpass 90% attendance for the year. At the end of the first quarter, 93% of 9th graders are on-track to earn 5 or more credits while achieving a 92% attendance rate.

Each month, teacher and department leaders have engaging discussions several times a week during the school in their Instructional Data Teams that focus on Planning & Organization, Classroom Environment, Application and Practice & Assessment/Reflection/Feedback. These areas are aligned with the EHPS2020 Instructional Expectations.

Several interventions that are designed to ensure students are in school and learning even when behavioral concerns may be barriers to their success continue to be effective. The STEP and BIR programs have afforded students over 240 days of instructional and learning time in an intervention setting.

The BIG Hornet Program (upperclassmen from ConnectionsPLUS) will take place from November to June. Little Hornets (freshmen) have been selected by our grade 9 teachers. During Q2 there will be a team-building workshop and motivational speaker/discussion. In Q3 students will participate in a ropes course and debrief. For Q4we will host a college readiness skills presentation. Both Little Hornets and Big Hornets will be invited to these activities during their lunch or after school.
With Hornet Pride,
Matthew Ryan
