MESSAGE FROM Ms. Kathleen Simoneau

Dear CIBA Families,

It is with great enthusiasm and pride that I welcome you to the 2018-2019 school year at the Connecticut IB Academy (CIBA), an International Baccalaureate World School®. We continue to strive for excellence to provide a high-quality education for each child to meet the demands of our ever-changing global society.

CIBA is unique because of its diversity, numerous accolades, focus on service and the development of each learner, and established traditions. The students, families, and staff are the heart of CIBA. With the support from the EHPS Board of Education members and EHPS Central Office team, CIBA continues to reach new heights.  This year CIBA was recognized as the #2 Best High School in Connecticut by U.S. News and World Report based on indicators such as CIBA’s performance on state-required tests and how well our students are prepared for college.  This distinction is not only a testament to our commitment and dedication to students, but also recognition of the efforts from the entire CIBA staff and families.

This is our second year offering the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme® (MYP) in grades nine and ten. The MYP ensures that our students are better prepared for the demands of the Diploma Programme® (DP).  Our Diploma Programme®, established since 2000, was reauthorized this past year to ensure its alignment with IB standards as practices as well as its continual growth and development.

Please familiarize yourself with the 2018-2019 CIBA Parent/Student Handbook and Agenda Planner.  It is an addendum to the EHPS District Parent/Student Handbook. Please note that as members of the EHPS school community, CIBA students are subject to all of the policies and regulations of the East Hartford Board of Education.

We are excited that you have chosen CIBA and look forward to a successful 2018-2019 school year.

Sincerely,

Kathleen Simoneau
