School Counseling Curriculum

Fall Classroom lessons on College and Career Readiness

Grade 6 - How does your personality and interest areas relate to your post-secondary options

Grade 7 - What are your strengths? How to they relate to Career pathways and related occupations?  What is the employment outlook, course plan of study, and related college majors for a job you are interested in?

Grade 8 - What do you need to start thinking about as you enter HS regarding your plans for post-secondary education or jobs?  What is financial Aide? What do you want in a college? Why start thinking about it now?  Lets do a college search!


Winter Classroom Lessons on Transition Planning and teaching Tolerance/Conflict Resolution

Grade 8 Focus on High School readiness - Choices and decision making for our futures.  Focus on becoming a high school student and preparing to understand course selection and the program of studies

The School Guidance and Counseling Department at East Hartford Middle School works collaboratively to assist all students in achieving their maximum potential in academic, career, and personal domains.

Counselors encourage awareness and exploration of student interests through departmental initiatives and community outreach.  We facilitate the development of positive choice and decision making skills, in order to enable all students to succeed in their educational and personal lives.

Power School

EHPS has recently transitioned to Power School.  We are excited about the new opportunities and resources it will bring to our students and families.  Please sign up for your power school account and download the app.

Power School's Parent Portal will assist students and families with increased communication with EHMS, easy access to grades and attendance, as well as keep families informed about student progress and performance.



If you are having trouble accessing Power School or your account, please let your student's counselor know.  We are here to help.







 High School Information

 Attend the Get to Know EHHS Night Thursday 11/28 5-8pm to learn about all the exciting programs and opportunities our very own public high school has to offer.
