Academies and Academics
"Education would be so much more effective if its purpose were to ensure that by the time they leave school every boy and girl should know how much they don't know, and be imbued with a lifelong desire to know it."
- Sir William Haley
Former Editor in Chief
At East Hartford Middle School we encourage all students to take a critical approach to evaluating their academic progress. Our primary focus is to prepare them to excel at the high school level. To this end, there is an intense focus on literacy and numeracy throughout the entire curriculum, including the Unified Arts (music, art, technology) as well as the Health and Physical Education programs. Students at East Hartford Middle School are expected to finish their academic program with the ability to read and write at or above the 8th-grade level, as well as to calculate and compute mathematics at a comparable level. In addition, there are competencies in both Science and Technology that students are expected to show proficiency in.
